Looking for an RCM exam teacher? RCM exam teachers are available with Feely Music!
RCM exams give tangible outcomes parents care about. Exams can count toward high-school credits in many Canadian provinces. Additionally, they can also be a tool to build the practical skills for a student to teach piano after completing Grade 8. Playing piano can deliver measurable cognitive and academic benefits, and Feely Music has RCM exam teacher options available.
RCM exam certificates are accepted for secondary-school credit across Canada. Keep in mind that the number and grade-level equivalencies depend on the province and school board. Generally, Ontario boards map RCM Levels 6–8 (with music theory) to music credits that line up with Grade 10, 11 and 12. Schools require official RCM certificates/transcripts and follow a local approval process. See the RCM High-School Credits page for province-by-province details.
Completing RCM Grade 8 means you can teach. A performance exam together with the writing exam usually means an individual has the tools needed to teach. For example, the repertoire, technique and basic musicianship to teach piano lessons. Feely Music is happy to hire students who graduate to RCM grade 8 completion (and above grads).
Structured music education strengthens the brain. Consistent, ongoing music study is associated with measurable gains in the brain. This includes memory, attention, brain function and academic performance. Altogether, RCM Neuroscience research show correlations between higher engagement in RCM study and stronger school-grade outcomes.
